Doing Yoga on a regular basis

      I just love YOGA!!! 😍

I love moving my body in both ways: slow but also fast; easy and hard; at low intensity but also at high one; gentle and strong; like, I cannot move anymore but also like, I can do whatever comes next. Plain and simple, I just love a whole range of workouts since I really like to enjoy movement on a large spectrum, not in just one dimension. Therefore, Yoga is a great fit for me because there are times when I just want to unwind at the end of the day with a low intensity routine, but also because there are days when I feel like I can do something more active and then I enjoy doing the power yoga practices since they are very dynamic and you move at a faster pace.

So, that’s the first reason why I love Yoga, it’s because it goes with my dual way of doing things, sometimes in a slow mode and other times in a fast/powerful one.

The reason number two is: I found Yoga to be one of the tools that help me have a better mental health since, it makes me stay present in the moment and focus on my breath, it doesn’t feel like another task on my to do list, but as something to be looking forward to, it’s a gentle way to exercise for when my mind or body can’t take a hardcore workout, it helps me relax after a stressful day, it calms my overthinking mind by moving the focus on my body.

The third reason is because Yoga allows me to have a steady and constant exercise routine. Before becoming a fan of this kind of workout, I often chose to skip exercising altogether when having a hard/bad day because I was lacking in the energy department and also the motivation one, but after falling in love with Yoga I discovered that the gentler/slower classes are just what I need on those days.

The reason number four is: Yoga really lets me see the connection between my body and mind because it teaches me to check in with myself physically, but also emotionally. Yoga helps me get rid of some emotions I’m storing inside by loosening my muscles, stretching my stiff body, breathing more deeply, and that’s because it accesses the physical-mental bridge. So, the practices are making me feel better physically, but also on an emotional level, since these 2 dimensions are so well connected.

The fifth reason is because my body has become more flexible and stronger after practicing for a while now.

The reason number six is: exercising is a key in stress management, by doing any kind of exercise (even going for a 30 minutes walk) we’re getting our brain out from flight or fight mode, so Yoga has been amazing in the stressful time I’ve been lately, since those days I’ve been feeling depleted, mostly on an emotional level, so I needed a lower intensity form of work out.

The seventh reason is because Yoga helps me stretch my body after working for hours in front of a screen and mainly seated at my desk.

The reason number eight is: by exercising, our brain releases endorphins, the feel-good hormone, so after a Yoga practice I feel really good, more positive and optimistic.

The ninth reason is because Yoga helps me relax and after the class I am calmer, and a lot of the time even rejuvenated.

The reason number ten: doing Yoga on a regular basis makes me happy. 🌈 After the practice I always feel not only better, mentally and physically, but also happier. Even though I wrote it last on the “why I love Yoga reasons” list, it’s the most important one and that’s why Yoga is one of my happiness habits. 🤩

The amazing thing is that Yoga makes me move my body even if sometimes I don’t feel like really doing any kind of exercise and that’s because there are some restorative classes that are exactly what I need when I’m feeling very low on energy. I learned to listen to my body so I know when it wants just to unwind because there’s not much left in the tank, so  choosing a slow practice is the best thing I can do for it right then.

Now I really love Yoga but it took some time to fall in love with it and that’s because I had to find the right teacher for me since yes, a lot of the time the trainer makes the difference between liking or not a certain type of workout. I did try diverse classes on youtube, with different yoga teachers, and there were some I liked, but I wasn’t very disciplined in my practice. That changed when a friend recommended attending an online free class from Mpower Yoga. I did that and then I tried other classes on the platform using their free trial period and I began to love practicing Yoga so much, especially with Alexandra Negulescu, that I chose to purchase a subscription so I can have access to all practices: the live ones but also  those on-demand, if I cannot be present at the exact time when the live ones are scheduled or I want to do my favorite practices again.

So, it has been around 2 years since I became a member of the Mpower Yoga community and I’m very grateful and happy to have found an amazing teacher, one that actually made me fall in love with Yoga, one that creates great, dynamic, always evolving, and more important, very diverse practices, so I can enjoy them frequently, even on some days when I’m not particularly in a mood for working out but I’m practicing anyway because it’s what I need then. Dear Alexandra, thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you’re doing, for creating the Mpower Yoga platform and for coming up regularly with new poses/classes so I’m not ever getting bored of practicing with you. 🙏

In conclusion, I just love doing Yoga!!! 🥰 I can’t say it’s my favorite workout because I do also love running outside and cardio classes or HIIT ones or… etc, and I really cannot choose just one form of exercising, but it’s one I can do even when I’m too tired for anything else or when I need more to relax than to energize. Yoga is truly amazing for me and that’s because it connects my body with my mind but also with my soul, since practicing it makes me happy. 🤩

Something to think about:

  • Have you tried Yoga? It may not be for you or for you yet, but you won’t know until you give it a try.
  • If you did try it and didn’t like it, was it really Yoga you didn’t like or you didn’t connect with the trainer? If it’s the latter, give Yoga another try but do it with a different teacher, it might make the difference.
  • If you don’t think Yoga is for you, what’s the workout that leaves you feeling happier afterwards? Make that one a habit for your happiness and enjoy it more often. 🌈
